If you’re looking for evidence that Central Indiana has become a destination for more than just business and sports, take a look at the calendar this August.
Within a few days, residents and visitors can experience professional golf in Westfield, nationally touring concerts in Noblesville and one of Indiana’s largest performing arts festivals in downtown Indianapolis.
That’s a pretty impressive lineup—and it’s also a great reminder of what makes Central Indiana such a special place to live.
From Hamilton County to downtown Indianapolis, August offers something for just about everyone.
And for families and professionals considering moving to Central Indiana, these events provide a glimpse into the lifestyle that awaits.
LIV Golf Returns to Westfield
One of the biggest events coming to Hamilton County this month is LIV Golf Indianapolis, returning to The Club at Chatham Hills in Westfield from August 20–23.
The event is the league’s 2026 Individual Championship and marks LIV Golf’s second visit to Chatham Hills following its 2025 debut.
The Club at Chatham Hills will host four days of professional golf, giving Central Indiana residents the opportunity to see some of the world’s best players without traveling to another state to experience a major professional sporting event.
And LIV Golf Indianapolis isn’t just about golf.
The event includes a fan village, hospitality experiences, food and entertainment throughout the tournament.
This year’s entertainment lineup makes the weekend even more appealing. Thomas Rhett is scheduled to perform Friday, August 21, while Disco Lines will perform Saturday, August 22.
That’s a pretty good example of what has become increasingly common throughout Central Indiana:
Major sporting events and entertainment coming directly to our communities.
Big Concerts Are Coming to Ruoff Music Center
Just a short drive away in Noblesville, music fans have another reason to get excited.
Ruoff Music Center continues its summer concert season with two major shows coming up this week.
TLC & Salt-N-Pepa with En Vogue
Thursday, August 20
Three iconic names from the history of R&B, hip-hop and pop will share the stage at Ruoff as part of the “IT’S ICONIC” tour.
The show begins at 7:30 p.m.
Tedeschi Trucks Band & Alabama Shakes
Saturday, August 22
Two powerhouse names in American rock and roots music come together for another major summer night at Ruoff.
And that’s just part of the concert calendar.
For Central Indiana residents, having a major outdoor amphitheater in Noblesville means nationally recognized artists regularly make their way to our backyard.
You don’t have to travel to Chicago, Nashville or another major city to see artists you’ve been wanting to see.
Sometimes, the concert you want is right here in Hamilton County.
IndyFringe Brings the Arts to Downtown Indianapolis
While Hamilton County is buzzing with golf and concerts, downtown Indianapolis is showcasing another side of Central Indiana’s entertainment scene.
The IndyFringe Festival runs August 13–23 and celebrates its 21st year in 2026.
The festival features 63 acts and nearly 300 performances, with theater, comedy, music, magic, dance, storytelling and much more taking place throughout downtown Indianapolis.
IF Theatre: Home of the IndyFringe Festival serves as one of the festival’s anchors.
One of the things that makes IndyFringe particularly interesting is its variety.
You might see a comedy show one night, live music the next and an entirely unexpected theatrical performance after that.
The festival is designed to encourage people to explore new artists and experiences—and much of the fun comes from simply discovering something you didn’t expect.
There are also free performances, a KidZone and other accessible ways for families and visitors to participate.
Three Events. One Very Active Community.
LIV Golf.
Ruoff Music Center.
IndyFringe.
At first glance, they don’t have much in common.
One is professional golf. One is a major concert venue. One is an independent performing arts festival.
But together, they tell an important story about Central Indiana.
There is always something happening here.
And that matters when you’re deciding where to live.
A great place to live isn’t simply about the house you purchase or the commute to work.
It’s about what you can do when you’re not working.
It’s the Saturday afternoon spent watching your kids compete in a youth sporting event.
It’s an evening concert at Ruoff.
It’s discovering a new restaurant in Carmel or Fishers.
It’s taking the family to an event at Grand Park.
It’s heading downtown Indianapolis for a Colts, Pacers or Fever game.
It’s exploring IndyFringe with friends.
It’s attending LIV Golf in Westfield.
Those experiences become part of what makes a community feel like home.
Why This Matters If You’re Considering Moving to Central Indiana
If you’re researching moving to Central Indiana from another state, you may be comparing cities based on schools, housing, employment and cost of living.
Those are important considerations.
But don’t overlook quality of life.
Central Indiana offers something particularly appealing: the ability to enjoy both a vibrant metropolitan area and welcoming communities like those throughout Hamilton County.
You can live in Fishers, Carmel, Noblesville or Westfield and have access to an incredible variety of entertainment throughout the region.
Indianapolis adds professional sports, concerts, museums, restaurants, performing arts and major events.
Hamilton County adds its own collection of parks, trails, restaurants, youth sports, community events and entertainment.
Together, they create a region where families can find plenty to do without having to travel far.
